Looking-glass cake for VolksUSA 6th Anniversary

On November 19, 2011 USA branch of Japanese company Volks - the VolksUSA were celebrating its 6th anniversary! Hooray!  So, on this occasion me and Hina-chan made a rich dark red cake with cream sweet frosting at home. This cake is very nourishing so, it would be very useful for a big party. And thanks to combination of the colors of this cake it would be looking very beautifil on your Christmas or New Year's table and I think it will impress every sweet tooth!

Christmas in Japanese Culture

Yay! It's Christmas time and time before New Year! That means time of bright lights, magic, meetings, fun, and of course sweets! Which child, or even an adult, would not be happy about a sweet wonder? ;) Although Christmas is not an official holiday in Japan still many Japanese people are celebrating and they even have a traditional Christmas treat. What do you think it is? It is a real "Christmas cake"! Actually this term is absolutely always means "Sponge cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream". Easy to make, very tender, sweet but not overly, it just melts in your mouth, and this taste of strawberries with whipped cream …mmmm… can you imagine? ;) Even better then imagining just try it. So let's try to make this sweet wonder which won't leave anybody indifferent!

Cake for St. Valentine's Day

On a St. Valentine's Day I decided to make a chocolate cake for my dear husband because unlike me he is a chocolate soul ^^; I chose very interesting and not very difficult to prepare cake and as it turned out later just gorgeous to taste! So we are recommending to try it to everybody with no exception!
This recipe requires a springform pan at least 3 inches high. It is imperative that each layer is made in sequential order. For best results, chill the mixer bowl before whipping the heavy cream. Also there were recommendations of what
chocolate brand is better to use. I did as recommended: Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Baking Bar for the base and middle layers and Guittard Choc-Au-Lait White Chips for the top layer. The entire cake can be made through step 8 and refrigerated up to a day in advance; leave it out at room temperature for up to 45 minutes before releasing it from the cake pan and serving.

Little Chef in the kitchen!?

It became cold outside and we wanted something soul-warming with tea such as pie! We already had apples and cranberries at home. I was thinking what cake to make and with what filling but received request for cranberry. So I decided to make a new cranberry cake. And just at the same time a new outfit from Japan arrived for Hina-chan. She immediately decided to try the outfit. ;)

Hina Ichigo at the kitchen! Let's take a look and see what is she doing there!?

My husband came to me once and said "you will write about your cooking in our blog!". "What a surprise" I thought. How do I start? Because I know so many recipes! And then Hina Ichigo gave us an idea by saying "I helped to prepare cake not so long ago! Let's start with it!" ^^ So we agreed :)

Ah, for those who don't know who Hina-chan is, let me tell you in a few words. Hina Ichigo is one of the seven dolls from an anime Rozen Maiden, this is if we talk about the character. A limited edition dollfie Hina-chan got to us from Volks company. Originally released for Dollfie Party 18. And we are thankful to them!
Hina-chan loves strawberries a lot, and her name means just that. It means Baby Strawberry. Thet's why she can't resist the cake, which I wanted to do for a long time because I love strawberry very much too! In order to make it tastier, Hina-chan volunteered to help in cooking.
