Paris, day 2, part 1

Our report from second day in Paris.

We woke up in the morning, had some breakfast in our hotel and went to Montmartre hill to see the basilicas there.

Near the subway there was this red watering-can in a garden.

Subway tickets for two days
Two day ticket for Paris subway and other transportation. Costs about 15 euros each.

Subway door lock
Interesting idea for doors in trains on line 4 (and possibly some others?) - the door only opens if you pull this handle while the train is at the station (in some more modern trains it's just a button).

Street fountain
Outside of subway and thinking which way to go, we see this street fountain of some sort.

Montmartre street
This is where we need to go - uphill.

Another staircase...

Paris street cafe
Interesting concept in Paris cafes - tables are facign outside so people sitting there watch passers-by, (and passers-by watch the eaters).

Street market in Montmartre

Crowds in Montmartre
Montmartre marketplace. We see a bit of  Basilica Sacre Coeur on the last picture.

Live statue in Montmartre

Simferopol violin ansamble AD
A poster inviting everybody to listen to an evening performance of a violin ensemble. The ensemble is from vocational school in Simferopol that Ksusha attended.

Saint Pierre de Montmartre door
A door to St Pierre cathedral. This is the older of the two main churches on Montmartre hill.

A cat was walking on that building across the street.

Walking on such streets in high-heeled shoes is not very convenient.

Basilique du Sacre-Coeur

Basilique du Sacre-Coeur
Basilique du Sacre-Coeur itself. Pretty big building, but relatively modern, built at the end of 19th century.

And a panoram view.

Entrance to Basilique du Sacre-Coeur
Entrance to the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur. No pictures from inside, since photography there is prohibited. Mostly boring inside. We were hoping to hear some organ playing or chorus signing, but all we saw were huge crowds and unhelpful security guards who were just watching for people not to take any pictures.
